About Dr. Nadeau

Dr. Richard (Rick) Nadeau was born and raised in rural Northern Ontario. He grew up an accomplished student-athlete, which led him to his eventual career in helping patients return to form and function as an orthopaedic surgeon. His passion for being active continues today; he remains an avid recreational athlete, enjoying hockey, road/gravel/mountain biking, golf and stand-up paddle boarding. Dr. Nadeau now calls North Vancouver home. He enjoys travelling and spending the beautiful British Columbia summer months on the Sunshine Coast.

After graduating high school in Timmins, Ontario, Dr. Nadeau earned a Bachelor of Medical Sciences degree from Western University. He then completed his Medical Degree (MD) at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine in 2011, followed by a five-year Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Western University. Advanced fellowship training in Adult Lower Extremity Hip and Knee Reconstruction at the University of British Columbia followed, solidifying his expertise in complex joint replacement surgery.

Dr. Nadeau joined the team at POSM in 2017. Today, Dr. Nadeau’s surgical practice emphasizes complex hip and knee replacement surgery, as well as providing comprehensive orthopaedic care to rural communities across the Sunshine Coast and Sea-to-Sky corridor, particularly for degenerative hip and knee conditions.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Nadeau is a Clinical Instructor with the UBC Department of Orthopaedics, actively teaching medical students, residents and fellows. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and an Executive Member of the the British Columbia Orthopaedic Association. He is a Past President of the Medical Staff Association at Lions Gate Hospital.

Dr. Nadeau and the POSM team look forward to being involved in your care.
